To provide sanctuary to farm animals and horses at risk of abuse, neglect or slaughter while utilizing social media to educate the public about these animals and responsible animal care.

The Sanctuary

Our 92 acre farm in the heart of the Hudson Valley is home to 35 resident horses along with countless other types of creatures from chickens and pigs to dogs and cats.  The property provides extensive fenced and sheltered pasture land, two barns, indoor and outdoor riding spaces, and full facilities for care and treatment.  All of this nestled within protected Federal Wetlands and heavily forested properties. This gives us a private haven to provide peace and healing to those that call the sanctuary home. Operation of the Sanctuary is funded entirely by charitable donations and grants.

Our Work

Squirrelwood strives to provide sanctuary. With specialized rehabilitation care of our animals and through providing Equine Assisted Therapy for veteran's and their families. Our farm is a place of peace and healing for all. We allow the horses that have undergone healing to provide support to those that are just starting their journey. The SquirrelWood horses that have undergone healing themselves provide support for Veterans who are just starting their journey.
